Happy Joe's Kids Foundation Inaugural Poker Run
Happy Joe's Kids Foundation Inaugural Poker Run
This year marks Happy Joe's 40th anniversary! The chain’s first location was in the Village of East Davenport, and opened on November 16, 1972. Today Happy Joe's has over 50 locations in 6 states! Happy Joe’s Pizza has become a long-standing tradition in the Midwest with a very passionate guest following. To celebrate the company’s 40th anniversary, Happy Joe and his family, with the help of the Handicapped Development Center, The Children’s Therapy Center of the Quad Cities, as well as Hand-in-Hand, have launched the Happy Joe's Kids Foundation (HJFK) which will benefit children with special needs. Special needs children have always had a special place in Happy Joe Whitty’s heart.
The forecast suggests a beautiful day so we want to remind you of the inaugural HJKF Poker Run, Sunday, September 16th – a road rally that will take drivers to a variety of locations around the Quad Cities with food provided by Happy Joe’s. Neighboring Happy Joe's locations in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois are also participating. Registration for the Inaugural HJKF Poker Run is the day of the event at the starting location, Happy Joe's 201 W. 50th Street, Davenport. “Unlike most poker runs, we want to invite everyone with a motorized vehicle to participate,” said Angie Nelson, Director of Fundraising. “Whether your preference is a muscle car, sports car, motorcycle, antique, or scooter – you’re welcome to join the fun.” Tim Whitty, son of Happy Joe Whitty will be chairing this event. Tim states, “I just bought my first Harley and I’m excited to get it on the road in support of my dad’s cause.”
There will be a reception following the run that will include a Show and Shine, door prizes, food and entertainment. Profits from the event will go to support the Happy Joe’s Kids Foundation and its mission of helping individuals facing physical, mental, developmental, or economic challenges, as well as their families and the service providers dedicated to assisting them.
